Plant spread: 24"
Plant height: 12" Foliage / 24" Flower
Plant type: Annual
Zones: 4-10
Maturation: Mature Foliage 50 Days / Flowers 100 Days
For zones 4-7 it's best to start these in pots 30 days before your last frost in the spring as they do take some time before they will flower. Sow on the surface of your potting material and very lightly dust with vermiculite or peat as they need some light to germinate. Keep moist until germination.
In warmer zones 8-10 you can direct sow these into the garden after your last frost in the spring. In the garden sow on the surface and lightly dust with screened peat. These will bloom all summer and the flower will last all summer into fall where after your first hard frost in the fall they will turn a wheat/tan color.
As a general rule of thumb once the flower emerges from it's leaf wrapping, and extends at least 1", you can cut them for the vase. These dry very well and while the stalks will turn tan after drying, the flowers themselves will stay white for several years as long as you cut them early in the flowering stage.
